Tony Pirrera from Presidio, would like to share the following:

1. Presidio will be hosting a VMWare on AWS Webinar on June 26th. This would be a great event for the members to sit in on and can also be passed on to others within their respective organizations to attend. The registration link is below:

DC VMUG – Connect with your Community!

February 18, 2015 By Josh Townsend

Your DC VMUG leadership team is working hard on a couple events this spring, with a local meeting sponsored by PernixData on Feb 19th and an all day regional (DC, MD, VA) VMUG UserCon on April 16, 2015, with more events coming later in the year.  We want to make sure that you, our community, stay up to date with our events!  We have several ways to engage with the community – pick the ones that you like best!

vmug-heads-125The DC VMUG Workspace on the VMUG website is where we share files (presentations from meetings), updates on events and notes from your leaders.  If you’re a VMUG member, you should make sure you have an account on the Workspace – the same account is used to subscribe to the VMUG Advantage program (which now includes a ton of software for you to use in your lab through the new EVALExperience!)

dcvmuglogo1The DCVMUG.com website links you to all of our resources and social media sites.  It also provides links to our generous sponsors and information on how to sponsor a local DC VMUG meeting.  The site has an RSS feed if you like to keep tabs on info through a feed reader.

twitter_square-125Our Twitter account @DCVMUG is the most frequently updated source of information – event updates, industry news, local VMware events.  We RT our tweets to minimize the chance of you missing an update, but tweets are coming fast and furious these days so make sure you keep an eye on another source of information.  Note that there is also a @NoVAVMUG account left over from years ago when we were talking about splitting the group into smaller DC and VA groups so our members didn’t have to deal with the mess that is DC traffic!  Stick with the @DCVMUG account for updates!

linkedin-iconFor those of you who like to keep your professional world separate from your personal, there’s a LinkedIn group for the DC VMUG.  Join the group for discussions, event updates and virtualization related job leads.  Please note that this is a new group on LinkedIn (as of February 2015) – if you’re a member of the old group make sure you switch over to this new official one!

We have a Facebook page and a Facebook group.  The page is where the real action is, so make sure you like it, but feel free to join the group too as it is a place to have more personal conversations with your local VMware community!  The DC VMUG website feeds the page, so you’ll get all of our updates there.

googleplusiconThere’s a Google+ Page too.  The content here is also fed from the DC VMUG website, so just like the Facebook page you’ll get all our updates by +’ing us (and Google likes it when you have a G+ account for search engine optimization).

We look forward to connecting with you!

Check out the VMware Mobile Knowledge Portal App

March 20, 2014 By Josh Townsend Leave a Comment

During the last DC VMUG, I mentioned the VMware Mobile Knowledge Portal app.  There was quite a bit of interest, so I thought that I would link to it here.  The VMware Mobile Knowledge Portal app provides access to VMware published content, and other rich media. You can use this application to watch a growing list of view helpful demos, installation/how-to videos, read product whitepapers, and benefit from expert advice. Content can be pulled down for off-line access so you can view on your commute or while waiting around for installations to complete (content > progress bars).

Prepare to interact with your peers at the next VMUG by checking out the VMKP.

I also mentioned a few other resources that you can use to get up to speed on VMware solutions including:

The VMware Product Walkthroughs (PWT) page at https://featurewalkthrough.vmware.com/.  The PWT site contains a ton of content that walk you through VMware products from high-level concepts to basic procedures designed to get you ready to deploy products in Proof of Concept environments quickly.VMware Product Walkthroughs (PWT)

The VMware Hands on Labs (HOL) at https://hol.vmware.com/.  These are the same labs that are delivered at VMworld, accessible to anyone, anywhere, any time.  The HOLs give you stick time with VMware products, walking through installation and configuration, as well as various use case scenarios with multiple products.  The HOLs have proved popular with many folks; in face, HOL stats for 2013 include: 39 unique lab topics with a combined 207 lab modules.  There were 113,000 labs delivered in the 2013 season amounting to 4.3 million minutes of lab time.

I’m on the VMware Technical Marketing team responsible for maintaining these resources, so if you have any feedback feel free to reach out.  You can get to me through social media or any of the contact methods I have here: https://vmtoday.com/contact/.
